Dr. Alex M. Avram is a sourcing and product development leader with deep expertise in health, wellness, and consumer goods innovation. With over a decade of experience spanning formulation, R&D, and corporate sourcing, Alex has led cross-functional teams to bring meaningful products from concept to shelf—delivering measurable results for both consumers and corporations.

Currently serving as Senior Sourcing Manager II at Sam’s Club, Alex oversees supplier partnerships and strategic sourcing for OTC Drugs, Vitamins & Supplements, Optical, and non-prescription Pharmacy categories under the Member’s Mark brand. His work centers on long-term supply assurance, cost optimization, and supplier excellence—bridging scientific understanding with business strategy.

Before joining Sam’s Club, Alex spent over five years at Walmart, where he managed the full product lifecycle for Health & Wellness and Household Essentials categories. His leadership in innovation pipelines, packaging design, and product development helped launch numerous successful private-brand products that aligned technical rigor with customer needs.

Earlier in his career, Alex held roles in biological R&D and process engineering at Pel-Freez Biologicals, contributing to the commercialization of novel biological products and leading a growing laboratory team. He also taught Engineering Problem Solving for Duke University’s Talent Identification Program and served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant while earning his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.

A lifelong advocate for science, innovation, and education, Alex brings both analytical precision and people-focused leadership to every role. Outside of work, he enjoys nature, kickboxing, chess, and conversations that challenge conventional thinking.
